Written by Vanessa Tan & Julia Chew In an effort to raise funds for our “club”, Fides enthusiastically sold Kacang Puteh and beautiful bookmarks (which were creatively hand-made by a parent of one of her members) during a CNY bazaar organized by the Students’ Association earlier this term. It proved to be an exciting start to the term as Fides members worked hand-in-hand in the planning of the stall. What was truly heartening was seeing the members of Fides come together as a community, and cooperate with one another in order to ensure the success of the event. The camaraderie and love that flowed among those who were involved was palpable, right from the setting up and manning of the stall, to its decoration and all the behind-the-scenes work. On top of that, we were also touched by the love and support that the staff and students of SMU showed us, in buying the things we sold as well as in giving generous ‘love offerings’. By God’s grace, Fides achieved its aim and managed to earn a significant profit over the 3 days of sales. These profits helped to offset the hefty costs of the retreat. We to thank all who supported us. ƒ
