STOP! Observe. Ponder. |

Praise & Worship, & Intercessory session: Written by Vanessa Tan As part of our efforts to expose the members in our community to a variety of ways to seeking God, we introduced a new style of Praise and Worship to them. Contemporary songs (e.g. Hillsong) were sung using various instruments -- the guitar, keyboard, tambourine, & of course, our voices! -- to praise and worship Him, many found it a refreshing change from the usual style. After the hearty P&W session, we delved into a more reflective form of prayer as we welcomed God to speak to us in the silence of our hearts. It was an opportune time for to simply immerse ourselves in God's loving presence. ƒ |

Written by Karen Nigos Mid-terms, presentations, and project-deadlines all but whizzed past; half a term had come and gone in what seemed like a blink of an eye. Now when time seems to have been stolen right from under your nose, that’s when you STOP. FIDES 2006 Retreat provided a much-needed time-freeze; the seclusion of the surroundings, camaraderie of the community, and the assured presence of the Lord; they all contributed to the most conducive environment for Seeking, Thinking, Observing, and Pondering. Reflective time was devoted to shed light on the hardest of questions: Which moments in life have primarily defined who you are now? What image do you have of God? Who is at the centre of your life? Many of my newfound friends would probably agree that the highlight of this whole retreat would be the ceremonial funeral of all our worries, fears, anxiety, and sins. For only when these burdens are laid to rest shall our weary bodies recharge. … and time once stopped for all these to occur, unfreezes and resumes anew.
